Teacher Leaders Program

In 2014, the Nashua Teachers' Union was accepted into AFT's Teacher Leaders Grant. The grant pays NTU members stipends of $1500 to attend one Saturday each month during the school year. At these meetings, teachers across the country meet with their union colleagues to discuss current federal, state and local policy issues; talk about their personal action research projects; develop plans to build community support for their schools; network with local leaders; and share in camaraderie with like-minded teachers. At the end of the program, teacher leaders submit a two to four page action research paper and present their findings to local and state policymakers at our final meeting in May.
