To the Membership,

Welcome back! Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning after decades of dedicated service, I extend a warm welcome to each of you. Regardless of whether this is your first year or your fortieth, please know that your union is here to support you. Do not hesitate to reach out if you require assistance—we are always here to help.

It has been a busy and productive summer at the NTU office. I would like to thank the Executive Board for their invaluable support in organizing and assisting me with several successful events, including our New Member Luncheon and the annual Nashua Goes Back to School event. At the Nashua Goes Back to School Event, we were proud to distribute $6,000 worth of free books to local students, generously donated by First Book, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free educational resources to children nationwide.

We begin the school year with two newly ratified contracts—one for American Sign Language Interpreters and Family Engagement Coordinators, which extends through the 2027–2028 school year, and one for secretaries, effective through the 2028–2029 school year. All of our contracts are available on the NTU website at nashuatu.org and have also been shared electronically by your building representatives.

Please take a moment to review your contract and ensure that your paycheck reflects the pay scales. All five current contracts are posted on the NTU website (see links below). If you notice any discrepancies or have questions, I encourage you to contact one of your building’s union representatives for assistance. A complete list of representatives is also posted on our website.

Looking forward to the coming school year, one top priority for the NTU is going to be to successfully negotiate a successor agreement to the Food Service contract, which expires at the end of this school year. We are also going to be monitoring some major changes made to the high school schedule that go into effect this year.

On November 19th, the NTU is going to host a virtual student debt clinic for NTU members who have student loans and are looking for information about they can get those loans forgiven through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Also, on October 15th, the NTU will be holding another virtual workshop with Embrace Home Loans, an AFT-sponsored benefit that assists home buyers secure mortgages with a variety of benefits offered only to AFT members.
