Well, here we are again, at the end of February. With vacation next week, we'll be turning the page on the calendar to March and counting down the days until Spring. While we are getting ready to enjoy a week of vacation, there is still a lot going on. We have been watching a lot of bills that could impact us at the State House, we are still waiting for a lot of answers relative to the changes with the middle schools, and the typical business of our schools. While we wait for a lot of answers, I hope you all are able to take some time next week and enjoy some down time. Enjoy your vacation, you have certainly earned it.
“Right-to-Work” POSTCARD CAMPAIGN
This year, we have begun utilizing a new tool to fight attacks against New Hampshire working families. In the past, we have gathered together and sent postcards to legislators to urge them to vote against/for legislation that impacted our lives and workplaces, but now, using this form/App, we can send postcards by filling out a simple form and taking a picture.
If you click here you will be directed to an online form. Once you fill out the form, you click the button, under the words “Upload photo” that says “Choose File.” You then take a HORIZONTAL/LANDSCAPE photo of yourself, click the terms and privacy boxes, and then click the “Submit” button. This form will generate a postcard that urges your legislator to vote against “Right-to-Work” and includes a photo of you. Studies have shown that when elected representatives put a face to the name on written correspondence, that it is substantially more likely they will take that constituent’s opinion to heart. That is the point of this new communications tool. You may also share the link with your networks and members, but remember to tell them to take the photo in HORIZONTAL/LANDSCAPE format (sideways on your phone). Here is the link to share with your networks: https://form.jotform.com/240214975267157.
As part of your employment, and included in all four NTU contracts, you are expected to know and abide by the policies and procedures (POPPs) created by the Board of Education. These policies and procedures can be found on the Nashua School District website under Board of Education. While all policies do apply to everyone, I would focus specifically on Sect ions E, G, I, and J. If you have any specific questions about policies, feel free to let me know. To access the POPPs Policies, click here.
The following positions are vacant on the Board of Directors. Vacancies are either a one or two year term (see date next to each position for when the term expires). The Board of Directors meetings monthly to discuss Union related issues, actions, and other business as needed. Board members also help disseminate information from the Union Office, meet with administration for questions about contracts, and assist members with questions, concerns and when meeting with administration. Members of the Board Directors are supported by the Grievance Chairs and the Executive Board. If you have any questions, or are interested in one of the vacant positions, please contact Adam (president@nashuatu.org).
