Last week, I sent the following email out to the membership regarding Teacher Negotiations.Â
Yesterday, the Teacher Negotiations Team met with the Board/District Team. I will be honest, I was not optimistic going in, but we are always open to listening and talking. We left with an all-day session scheduled for November 9th with the anticipation of reaching a tentative agreement that day. There was a huge momentum swing yesterday which has me feeling very optimistic. There is a chance that we will not reach a TA on November 9th, but my hope is that we do, and I can bring a contract for a vote by the end of November. The Board of Directors meets the afternoon of November 9th. I will be able to provide them a detailed update at that time. At this time, there are no changes to the actions voted on by the General Membership or meetings scheduled for the membership. I will try to give as much notice as possible for a ratification meeting.
I am hopeful that going into our meeting on November 9th, that I will be able to provide a complete update to the Board of Directors on November 9th and send out good news that evening that we have a tentative agreement. The tentative timeline, assuming things go well on the 9th, is to have a ratification meeting on Monday, November 29th at 4:30pm, most likely at Nashua High School North. The reason for that is that it does take some time to turn around the tentative agreement and prepare for a membership meeting. The Board of Education also meets on November 29th. Traditionally, the Union has voted earlier in the day that the Board takes it up at their meeting. Please remember this is all tentative. We may get a lot done on the 9th and need another day to finalize things. This may or may not delay the process. Once we have a tentative agreement, I will prepare a document with detailed information about the proposed changes. This will come to you ahead of time in hopes that questions can come ahead of time so they can be addressed during the contract presentation. As soon as I have confirmed information regarding the tentative agreement and the ratification meeting, I will send it out.Â
