Spotlight on You

The Nashua Education Foundation had to cancel the annual NEFie Awards because of Covid-19. In lieu of the NEFies, the Nashua Education Foundation is doing a spotlight on staff of the Nashua School District. The first spotlight was this week and I made the nomination. It is my honor to nominate the staff of the Nashua School District to be the first Spotlight presented by the Nashua Education Foundation. Since the start of the pandemic, the staff of this district as work diligently to continue educating the students of Nashua. I am proud to support such a dedicated group of people. Thank you for your incredible work for the students of Nashua. The Nashua Teachers' Union has made a donation to the Nashua Education Foundation in honor of all of you.

ADA Paperwork

Many of you have been waiting to submit your ADA accommodations paperwork to see when and if we would move to a hybrid model. It appears that we will continue to move towards the hybrid model over the next several weeks. If you are in need of ADA accommodations, I strongly urge you to contact Human Resources to get the appropriate paperwork for your medical professional to fill out. I have heard from some people it is taking a few weeks to get the paperwork returned from the doctor after some delay getting it. Please take the necessary steps now to protect yourself.

Know Your Contract

Jury Duty

As people who work for a school district , we are not exempt from being called to Jury Duty. Each contract has specific language regarding court appearances:

  • Teachers: Article 6:12

  • Paras: Article 6:6

  • Secretaries: Article 6:7

  • Food Service: Article 6:4

While the language is different in each contract , they all share a common theme. If you are summoned to jury duty, you need to go. If you are paid for your services, bring proof of that to the Payroll Office at Central Office, and you will be paid the difference of what you would be paid for a regular day.

For example, if your regular pay is $50 per day, and the Court pays you $10, the district will pay you the additional $40 to make you whole for that day.
