Teacher Leader Presentations

You are cordially invited to attend the presentations of the 2020-2021 Nashua Teacher Leaders Program which will be held virtually on Saturday, May 15th starting at 9:00am.

Nationally, the Teacher Leader Program is in its ninth year and includes over 20 AFT locals. This is Nashua’s sixth year of participation. The purpose of the program is to provide a strong tie to community leaders, provide an informed teacher voice, provide a vehicle for messaging about public schools, and create a collaborative culture within the school districts.

Teacher Leaders in Nashua have selected a topic relative to current education issues from within their schools and district, state-wide, or the profession at the national level. During the year, they access relevant research on the topic, found links to articles and reports and, perhaps, relevant legislation. Connections were made relating to practice, research and policy.

Dialogue with policymakers and legislators on educational issues is important in this process. At the end of the program, Teacher Leaders present their work to local dignitaries and community leaders.

A few of the past research projects have been implemented in Nashua including the rotating or waterfall schedule used at both Fairgrounds Middle School and Elm Street Middle School. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to have this program in Nashua.

A special thank you goes out to Gary Hoffman, Patrick Johnson, and Chelsea Folini for acting as facilitators and maintaining this program for the NTU. Gary brought this idea back to Nashua after attending the AFT Convention in Los Angelos.

Good luck and congratulations to the 2020-2021 Teacher Leaders!

What Would You Pick?

I would love to have another home to get away to...I'm happy with my camper, but that doesn't help in the winter. If you could have another home, where would it be?
