Week of December 21, 2020

Message from the President

I fully admit that I enjoy the month of December. It you couldn't tell by my Christmas tree's early arrival and my decorations, I love the Christmas season. I also enjoy December because it's the month of my birth. I am not shy about telling people when my birthday is (December 23rd) or how much I love it. Most people think I'm crazy because it is just two days before Christmas, but I can honestly say, I love it! Now, you're probably wondering where I am going with this message this week. I would be thinking, great, you love Christmas and your birthday, yippee. As much as I look forward to those two dates, I am really looking forward to January 1, 2021. While a change of the calendar won't mean an immediate change to our current situation, it does bring me some hope. 2020 has been the most insane year I have ever lived through in my almost 36 years of life (you knew I would find a way to through in how not old I am!). The end of the worst year of my life brings on a new year, a new start. While we'll still be dealing with COVID 19, remote and hybrid learning, and differing opinions, we'll still be moving forward towards a more normal time. Will it ever be like it was pre-COVID? I have no idea. Will we finally be moving back to mask-less lives and school in the building? I think so...when, I don't know, but I am hopeful that 2021 will give us a taste of our old reality. I look forward to the day when I can come over to your school, cause some kind of havoc, and then head back the Union Office. :-) Hopefully, that day is here before we know it.

I want to wish you all a safe, happy, healthy and RELAXING break! You have all earned some time for yourself and to spend it with your family. I also want to wish you a Happy New Year! I look forward to seeing what 2021 has in store for all of us.

Favorite Cookie Showdown

I bet you're going to be shocked by the results. Ok, I lied, you're not. Chocolate Chip Cookies crushed Snickerdoodles by taking 77% of the vote. It was never even close as I watched the results over the course of last week. In honor of the Chocolate Chip win, I made cookies over the weekend. For those of you who are friends with me on Facebook, I bet your shocked by this. Stay tuned for the next Just for Fun when we return in January!
