Week of April 19, 2021

Message from the President

Today has probably been met with mixed emotions. For some of you, today is no different than the last several months. For others, today is the first time you will have been in your school with students since last March. Last week while I was writing the Monday Morning Message, I went through my Timehop app (some days are more fun or embarrassing than others). A post I made on April 15, 2020 was a picture that said the following:

  • If you're sad, that's ok

  • If you're hopeful, that's ok

  • If you're angry, that's ok

  • If you're hungry, that's ok

  • If you're tired, that's ok

  • If you're stressed, that's ok

  • If you're worried, that's ok,

  • If you're just ok, that's ok.

I think it was perfect that this showed up while I was procrastinating. Honestly, procrastinating helped me this time because I wasn't sure what I was going to write this week. I have been struggling with this message recently, and I really wanted to have something from me this week, not something generic. The list I mentioned makes sense, but I think things need to be added.

  • If you're happy, that's ok

  • If you're anxious, that's ok

  • If you're excited, that's ok

  • If you don't know what you're feeling, that's ok

  • If your feelings change with the day, hour, or minute, that's ok

At the end of the day, we are all on different pages with how we're feeling today, that's ok. I think that goes for our students and families, too. Just remember, it's ok to feel the way you're feeling. If you need help with how you're feeling, the Employee Assistance Program is available to also district employees, free of charge, and it's confidential.

I wish you all a successful week and I hope you take a much deserved break next week to rest and relax.

Free, confidential help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

It appears that reading with the actual book or magazine is still very popular among those who took the poll. I wonder what it would look like if we asked students?

What Do You Call It?

I enjoy a nice carbonated beverage every once in awhile. Recently, I came across that showed what different regions of the country call those carbonated beverages. What do you call the items in the cans?
