Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you had a great long weekend. The weather certainly cooperated - finally. It was nice to see so many of you when I was out and about last week. And it was nice to hear children happy to be back at school, well most of them. My own 5th grader, Quinten, was not amused on the first day of school.Â
I am fielding questions about September 12th – the Primary Election Day here in Nashua. September 12th is scheduled on the calendar for PD for all four NTU contracts. There is a MOU just like the one from the 2022-2023 school year. However, the Board of Education has not approved the 2023-2024 MOU as of yet. We are expecting it to be approved tonight making September 12th a workday for all employees covered under a NTU contract. If there are questions, please let me know.
For those of you here last school year, you will remember the cyberattack on the district just as April vacation was coming to an end. For weeks, we went without email, X2, NHSEIS, and many other key online programs that help us do our jobs.
As a result of the attack, the City of Nashua will be offering credit monitoring through myTrueidentity. Official information will be coming out through the City/District this week with more information, coverage, and how to enroll. If you want this protection and service, you must enroll yourself by November 30, 2023. As soon as the official information is sent out, we will piggyback it in the Monday Morning Message and email reminders.Â
While August 31, 2024 is a year away, it will be here before you know it. The current Food Service contract expires on that day.Â
I am looking for at least one more Food Service Worker to serve on the Negotiations Team. Negotiations typically take place outside of the work day about 2 to 4 times a month.
If you have any questions or are interested in helping negotiate the next Food Service contract, please reach out to Adam (president@nashuatu.org).Â
The following positions are vacant on the Board of Directors. Vacancies are either a one or two year term (see date next to each position for when the term expires). The Board of Directors meetings monthly to discuss Union related issues, actions, and other business as needed. Board members also help disseminate information from the Union Office, meet with administration for questions about contracts, and assist members with questions, concerns and when meeting with administration. Members of the Board Directors are supported by the Grievance Chairs and the Executive Board. If you have any questions, or are interested in one of the vacant positions, please contact Adam (president@nashuatu.org).Â

Just for Fun is back for the year! My daughter, Madelyn, has been obsessed with board and card games - ok, it's Candy Land and War. So, this week's question, what is your favorite board/card game? I love playing Cribbage and Backgammon, but Spades is a favorite, too. I am not allowed to discuss the outcome of many Monopoly games as a kid - there may still be a gag order on that!
