On behalf of all the members of the Nashua Teachers' Union, I am pleased to congratulate the 2023 Nashua Education Foundation Excellence in Education Award Winners!!!
Warning: this week is five full days with students. The last time we saw one of these weeks was back in...June!!! But I know you are all ready for what this week brings us!
I have spent a lot of time visiting schools, stopping in during the professional development day, and fielding emails. There is one big theme that has come out of all of this: a large sense of feeling overwhelmed.
I know this may not be true for everyone, but it is for a significant number of our colleagues across the district. Much of the feedback involves the multiple changes to the elementary curriculum and resources. I want to make it very clear, not one teacher has objected to all students being able to access the curriculum and Tier I instruction. Not one teacher has objected to having new curriculum. Not one teacher has objected to having new resources to educate their students. Not one teacher has objected to wanting all students to be able to read, write, and think. The objection teachers have had is having way too many changes, new curriculum, and new resources without the adequate time and professional development to be prepared to use these new things.
I am actively working to gather feedback from anyone who wants to provide me feedback. I will be working with the Board of Directors to bring the concerns forward to Central Office in a constructive manner. If you have any questions, concerns, or something to share, please send me an email (president@nashuatu.org).

We all have those times when we may need to leave a little early for an appointment, meeting at another school, etc. In most cases, administration is flexible and gives the ok to sneak out a few minutes early. However, this is not something that should be happening without permission. Leaving early and not fulfilling your contractual obligations is a contract violation. This type of violation could lead to discipline including termination, and it could also result in a loss of pay. If you have questions on your contractual obligations, please contact your administration or the Union Office.
The following positions are vacant on the Board of Directors. Vacancies are either a one or two year term (see date next to each position for when the term expires). The Board of Directors meetings monthly to discuss Union related issues, actions, and other business as needed. Board members also help disseminate information from the Union Office, meet with administration for questions about contracts, and assist members with questions, concerns and when meeting with administration. Members of the Board Directors are supported by the Grievance Chairs and the Executive Board. If you have any questions, or are interested in one of the vacant positions, please contact Adam (president@nashuatu.org).

No surprise here...being too cold won by a landslide. Ironically, the colors on the graph are backwards.
