Please review the information below relative to the November 7th Workshop Day:
Teachers: Workday/Professional Development Day
Secretaries: Regular Workday
Food Service Workers: Non-workday (members cannot use any time to be paid)
Paraeducators: Contractually, a non-workday (members cannot use any time to be paid) HOWEVER, the district has two workshops open to paraeducators through the Lives in Balance grant. Paraeducators have the option of attending the two workshops (see below) and will be paid for attendance at these workshops only (per the grant). Paraeducators may attend other PD but will not be paid for participating. Please direct questions to your building administration.

A few weeks ago, the Food Service Negotiations Team met to try something new to reach out to members and potential members. As we prepare for negotiations, getting feedback from the membership is important. Each member was sent a letter asking them to take the negotiations survey and it included a link and a QR code. Potential members received a personal letter asking them to join the union and explained what was happening with negotiations. If you are a food service worker and did not receive a letter from the NTU, please contact Adam (president@nashuatu.org). We are hoping this personal outreach will increase participation during this important process.

8th Annual Toys for Tots Drive
8th Annual Toys for Tots Drive
This year marks the 8th Annual Toys for Tots Drive sponsored by the Nashua Teachers' Union. The blue bins will return for drop off at your school/office. We will continue to have a drop off for new, unwrapped toys at the Union Office. We will continue to accept monetary donations. We will take all donations and purchase toys to donate to our drive or donate it directly to the local campaign here in Hillsborough County. Blue bins will appear in your schools the week of November 1st and we collect items through Thursday, December 1st.

Personal Days
Personal Days
Now, more than ever, our personal and sick time are very valuable. All four contracts have language about using personal days. The language lists specific reasons when you can take a personal day as well as how much notice you need to give to use one outside of an emergency. Please make sure you are following your contract when you are using your personal days. A few people have misused their time, talked and posted about it, and then faced discipline for that misuse. If you have specific questions about using your time, please contact your building representative, an officer, or the Union Office.

Vacancies on the Board of Directors
The following positions are vacant on the Board of Directors. Vacancies are either a one or two year term (see date next to each position for when the term expires). The Board of Directors meetings monthly to discuss Union related issues, actions, and other business as needed. Board members also help disseminate information from the Union Office, meet with administration for questions about contracts, and assist members with questions, concerns and when meeting with administration. Members of the Board Directors are supported by the Grievance Chairs and the Executive Board. If you have any questions, or are interested in one of the vacant positions, please contact Adam (president@nashuatu.org).
