Last week, I met with paraeducators to discuss what has been agreed to in negotiations and what is left for mediation. With mediation being scheduled for Thursday, December 1st, I am asking the membership to come out to rally for our paraeducators. The Board of Education meets on Monday, November 28th. I am asking for members to come out starting at 5:00pm to show support for a fair paraeducator contract. I am looking for a few paraeducators to speak about their day and share what it's like to be a paraeducator. I am also looking for a few teachers to speak on behalf of the paraeducators they have worked with in their classrooms. The Board of Education meeting starts at 6:00pm at Nashua High School North. I am not sure if there will be anything on the agenda for people to speak about it at first comment, so it may have to wait until second comment. If you cannot attend the meeting, please consider contacting the Board of Education in support of a fair contract for our paraeducators. As I mentioned in last week's Monday Morning Message, we ended on negotiations on November 1st feeling positive. We have scheduled our next session for November 15th at 10:00am. If we settle a contract, a secretaries membership meeting will be scheduled to review the proposed changes to the contract and to vote. If we should end up declaring impasse during the process, a secretaries membership meeting will be scheduled to review what's left on the table, to talk about what impasse means, and talk next steps.

7th Annual Toys for Tots Drive
7th Annual Toys for Tots Drive
This year marks the 7th Annual Toys for Tots Drive sponsored by the Nashua Teachers' Union. The blue bins will return for drop off at your school/office. We will continue to have a drop off for new, unwrapped toys at the Union Office. We will continue to accept monetary donations. We will take all donations and purchase toys to donate to our drive or donate it directly to the local campaign here in Hillsborough County. Blue bins will appear in your schools the week of November 1st and we collect items through Thursday, December 1st.

Work Day
Work Day
Each unit has a specific work day, usually set by your school principal. The work day may vary by your position, number of hours you were hired to work, and which school you work. You are expected to be working during those work hours unless you are on FMLA leave, using some sort of time off, or it's not a work day for you. Please be mindful of what you're posting on social media or where you're going during school hours. You are entitled to use your personal/sick time, etc. as outlined in your respective contract. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Union Office.
