Message from the President

I think speak for most when I say I'm frustrated with the waiting and unanswered questions. Let's be honest, my catch phase "I don't know" led to a t-shirt and was almost funny at one point. However, the longer we've been in this process, the less funny it has become for all of us. It is concerning that the Board will meet tonight and make a decision that will impact many classrooms, staff members, and families on January 19th. Do they think that planning for remote and hybrid is the same thing? Do they think that planning for in-person is the same thing, too? Do they think that lessons for the in-person students could be the same for the hybrid/remote students? These are not normal times. Planning and preparation for "regular" times is no picnic either. There is a lot more to teaching than reading a teacher's manual. Oh wait, many of you don't even have anything like that to use.

This COVID time has shown a lot of holes in our system. It has shown the importance of public education for helping maintain society function, but I think it has also shown how crucial the staff of our district are to our city. And I hope people see how hard you're all working each day. I have heard some people - veteran teachers - say that they are working harder this year than their first year teaching. I don't think working hard is bad, and growing in our profession is important, however, this wasn't how imagined it happening.

Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. I know this isn't an easy time for anyone, and I appreciate your commitment.

Wear A Mask at School

With a few expectations, you are required to wear a mask while at school. I have been getting emails and calls from concerned staff members that other adults are not wearing their mask at school. Please make sure you're wearing your mask. I know they're uncomfortable and usually not very stylish, but we have to wear them. Thank you for your cooperation.

New Year's Resolution Results

What Would You Pick?

Maybe I have lost my mine or maybe I couldn't come up with anything, but it was Google to the rescue. I have heard this question asked before, so I immediately jumped on it.

Would you rather fight 10 duck-sized horses, or 1 horse-sized duck?

Now, I'm not condoning violence, but you know, how things are going right now, ducks and horses could join forces. This is really something you need to prepare yourself for and be ready.
